Streaks take 3rd at Phenoms Tournament!

The Silver Streaks played in the 2012 Phenoms basketball tournament this weekend. The Streaks finished 4-1 and took 3rd Place in the Blue division.

The Streaks started off the tournament by winning both pool games and setting Sunday as the one seed on the top of the bracket. Their first game in tournament play went well as they defeated the Venom 14u 22 to 9. The next game would be a true test as they would face a very talented Thunder Knowles team. The Streaks gained a fan base by taking the Thunder to the last second and losing by just one point.

Down but not out, the Streaks bounced back in the third place game against the Triple G team. Down early the Streaks played their game never losing focus and beat them to bring the 3rd Place trophy home to conclude the weekend.

The Silver Streaks will be playing in the Elite Spring Classic April 19th-22nd.

Streaks' Coee Carrieres Commits to Baker University

(BALDWIN CITY, Kan.) -- Baker University, a standout NAIA college in Kansas, has signed Silver Streak and Mesquite High School center Coee Carrieres to an athletic scholarship and will join the university's women's basketball program in the fall of 2012.  The announcement was made by Ben Lister, the head women's basketball coach for the Wildcats.  The Silver Streaks have had over 20 girls earn college scholarships since 2009.

A 6-2 post player, Carrieres tallied career-highs of 16 blocks, 15 rebounds and 20 points at Mesquite HS.

“Coee is a great addition for us and her size at 6’2 will be a big help combined with Macy Wallisch next season,” said Lister, who is in his first season at Baker, which plays in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. “We feel like we have a good front line coming in that will get better and better over the next four years. Coee excels on the glass and has great timing as a shot blocker. She has a lot of potential and upside and I look forward to watching her continue to develop her game here at Baker University. She is not only a talented, but an excellent student and person as well.”
