"We are very excited to have Kaitlin join our program," said Briar Cliff Head Coach Mike Power, who has guided the program to three NAIA Division II National Tournament appearances and has the Chargers off to a 6-0 start this season. "With her skills and knowledge of the game, she will be a great addition. Aside from being a fine basketball player, she has great character on and off the court. Her attitude, work ethic and personality will fit well into our system." A three-year starter, three-year team captain, and three-time Arizona Interscholastic Association Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll member, Meister has already played in 95 career games for the Toros and helped the team to a 81-14 record (.853 winning percentage) during that span. Barring an injury during her senior campaign, Meister is on pace to finish her outstanding high school career ranked first or second in all-time games played at Mountain View, one of the top girls basketball programs in the state of Arizona that is currently ranked No. 1 in the 2009-2010 Arizona Republic preseason rankings for Class 5A.In her first three varsity seasons, Meister has helped lead the Toros to two Arizona Class 5A High School "Final Fours," including the state championship game in 2007 when the team compiled a 31-3 record. This past June, she helped Mountain View and Head Coach Henry Bribiescas win the Salute to Excellence Invitational in Spokane, Wash., averaging 10.0 points per game and grabbing a team-high eight steals while shooting a team-best 45.5% (15-for-33) from three-point range, including five three-pointers in the tournament semifinals. Also a key member of the Arizona Silver Streaks girls club basketball team since 2002, Meister helped the Streaks to five consecutive Arizona AAU State Championships (2003-2007). She was featured on ESPN.com's "HoopGurlz" section in October 2008 for her shooting and overall play during a national NCAA-sanctioned tournament held at Arizona State University. This past October, Meister participated in an invitation-only, national skills event in Atlanta run by renowned NBA and NIKE skills coach Ganon Baker—one of only seven players invited to Atlanta from Baker's invitational skills camp held at Texas A&M in August. The daughter of Brett and Kelleen Meister, Kaitlin’s younger sister, Brooklyn, is a sophomore teammate on the Mountain View HS basketball team. Located in Sioux City, Iowa, Briar Cliff University is a four-year Catholic institution that is ranked among the 2010 America’s Best Midwestern Baccalaureate Colleges, according to the 2010 edition of “America’s Best Colleges” by U.S. News & World Report.
